Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders sees first NFL action after Dillon Gabriel suffers concussion

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel was ruled out after suffering a concussion midway through Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, bringing Shedeur Sanders into his first NFL action.

Sanders took the field for Cleveland's first possession of the second half as Cleveland announced Gabriel was being evaluated for a concussion.

The fifth-round pick completed both his first two pass attempts but was sacked on the final play of his first possession. The tough sledding for Sanders continued as he later threw an interception, leading Cleveland to see a 16-10 advantage at halftime turn into a 23-16 deficit.

Sanders finished Sunday 4-of-16 passing for 47 yards with one interception and an additional 16 yards on the ground. He was sacked twice.

Gabriel went 7-of-10 passing for 68 yards with no touchdown or interceptions before exiting.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters after the loss that Sanders would start in Week 12 if Gabriel is unable to clear the league's concussion protocol.

The Browns (2-8) face the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
