It appears Kyler Murray will once again be unavailable for his struggling Cardinals.
Arizona is planning to start Jacoby Brissett for its Week 7 game at home against the Green Bay Packers, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo reported Saturday.
It will mark the second game in a row missed by Murray due to a foot injury. The seven-year pro was limited throughout the week and was initially deemed as questionable to play on the injury report.
Week 9 is Arizona's bye, meaning Murray will be able to fully rest up after he was injured in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
Since they took him first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cardinals are 4-15 when Murray doesn't start. However, Brissett led Arizona to its best statistical outing of the season in Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts. Along with a season-high 400 yards of offense, the Cardinals also tied their season best in points, but it wasn't enough in a 31-27 defeat -- their fourth in a row, all by four points or fewer.
Cool, poised and up to the task, Brissett was a reliable veteran off the bench against the Colts, throwing for 320 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and completing 61.4% of his passes. It was his first 300-yard passing game since Week 11 of the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns.
On Sunday, Brissett will be aiming for another excellent performance and a much better final result.
The Cardinals (2-4) host the Packers (3-1-1) at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
