EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings have interest in free-agent guard Chester Pitts.
Vikings coach Brad Childress said Wednesday the team has talked to the agent for Pitts, who's recovering from September microfracture surgery on his right knee.
The left guard played eight seasons for the Houston Texans, but he wasn't re-signed. Pitts probably will have several teams to choose from once he's fully recovered this summer.
The Vikings lost their best backup offensive lineman to free agency when eight-year veteran Artis Hicks signed with the Washington Redskins in March.
The Vikings then drafted Chris DeGeare in the fifth round, adding a 6-foot-3, 325-pound player who had both guard and tackle experience at Wake Forest. DeGeare will begin his career as a guard.
