Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (knee) off injury report, set to start vs. Chargers

Jayden Daniels is back and ready to go in Week 5.

Daniels, who missed Weeks 3-4 with a sprained knee, if off the injury report and will start for the Washington Commanders against the host Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Daniels was a full practice participant throughout the week and made it clear Wednesday he was on his way back to the playing field this week.

The 2024 NFL Draft No. 2 overall pick, Daniels will match up with 2020 No. 6 pick Justin Herbert. It will be the first time the two have played against each other.

Daniels was injured during the Commanders' Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers and his status was up in the air for much of the ensuing two weeks. This week, Daniels looked to be all systems go from Tuesday on.

Daniels will face off against a formidable Chargers defense that's third in yards allowed. However, L.A. is coming off its first loss of the season, a 21-18 setback against the New York Giants.

Washington is likewise coming off a loss to the Atlanta Falcons with Marcus Mariota starting for the Commanders. Washington went 1-1 with Daniels out and Mariota starting.

In two games so far this season, Daniels has completed 43 of 72 passes (59.7) for 433 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, whilst adding 85 yards on 18 rushes.

Daniels and the Commanders kick off against the Chargers at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
