New Los Angeles Rams receiver Davante Adams is basking in the Southern California sunshine.
Joining Sean McVay's squad after spending two-plus years in Las Vegas and the bulk of 2024 in New York, Adams feels refreshed.
"It's been exactly what I needed, feeling rejuvenated and really, really enjoying the time with the guys, getting to know them, getting on the same page with Matthew (Stafford), and just kind of gelling with the whole team right now," Adams said on Tuesday, via the team's official website. "It feels like I've been on this team for a couple years now, just based off of how open and receptive the guys have been to me."
After his release by the Jets, McVay wooed Adams this offseason to provide another dynamic pass-catching weapon alongside Puka Nacua. All the reports out of Rams workouts this offseason suggest the 32-year-old wideout looks spry and is fitting in well.
"I feel like this is what I needed just based off the vibe and the aura of the building," Adams said. "And everybody's in a good mood. It's not like a dark cloud over the building. And I've experienced that quite a bit over the last few years. So, it's a glaring difference when you come into a building like this."
That sort of quote is a damning review of Adams' time in Vegas and New York, under coaching staffs who are no longer in charge of either organization.
Adams spent the first eight years of his career in Green Bay, earning five Pro Bowl bids and two first-team All-Pro honors. He kept the production afloat his first season with the Raiders (1,516 yards and an NFL-leading 14 touchdowns), but things fell off the past two years.
Even as he gets up in age, Adams remains one of the best wideouts in the game, able to win off the line of scrimmage with ease, and still creates plenty of separation.
In L.A., the veteran said he's able to focus on just playing.
"It's just about ball. It's no other B.S," he said.
"And [they've] got a really good quarterback in here," Adams added. "Got a really good, young team that shows a lot of promise and was obviously really close to being able to have a chance at the whole thing last year. So, just knowing how hungry this team is and seeing the work that they're still putting in after having a year last year just kind of confirms that I'm in the right place."
The right place to get back to earning Pro Bowls and hopefully returning to the postseason, where he hasn't been since 2021.
