Joey Bosa's first injury in Buffalo has already come and gone.
The veteran pass rusher missed spring workouts due to a calf injury suffered earlier this offseason, but said at the opening of training camp that he's already past the issue.
"It was frustrating in the moment, but I moved on relatively quickly," he recently told WGR 550. "It was a minor thing and I don't even think about it anymore."
Bosa played the first nine years of his career with the Chargers, spending a bulk of that time managing injuries. He's played 16-plus games just three times in his career. In the past three seasons, he's appeared in just 28 of 51 possible regular-season games.
The five-time Pro Bowler hasn't hit double-digit sacks since 2021, collecting five QB takedowns in 14 games last season.
Joining his second NFL squad in a decade, Bosa is adjusting to life on the other side of the country, which includes going away for training camp at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.
"It's nice, it gets repetitive every year the same thing over and over again, I mean I loved my time with the Chargers and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but I think it was just getting a little redundant, especially with my injuries the last few years, I needed a fresh start, and new scenery, so it's been a really pleasant surprise, getting to know Buffalo and Orchard Park, it's been beautiful," Bosa said.
"I have a yard, I have space to live and my dog can run around and we've got families of geese in the backyard that we've been following, my fiancée loves it, the fans are amazing unless you're at dinner and they're screaming mid dinner, I can't remember the song (probably shout) but it was quite the experience."
The Bills are banking on the 30-year-old Bosa returning to form opposite Gregory Rousseau. If he can stay healthy, the pairing could cause havoc in Sean McDermott's defense. At this point in his career, however, that's a big if.
