Kyler Murray (foot) sits out Cardinals practice on Wednesday ahead of Week 6 game vs. Colts

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will miss Wednesday's practice session as he deals with a foot injury.

"Kyler will not be out there today," head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters. "(We'll) take it day by day."

Murray briefly exited Sunday’s collapse against the Tennessee Titans after taking a snap to the facemask and attempting to dive on the loose ball. It was unclear how the foot injury occurred. The QB went to the blue tent before walking to the locker room. He missed two snaps before returning and finishing out the game.

If Murray can't go, veteran Jacoby Brissett would make the start against the 4-1 Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

"Well, he's a true pro," Gannon said of the backup. "I know that term gets thrown around, but when you're in his seat, all our guys, but the quarterback position is the hardest position in sports. To know that you're one play away from your role changing, you really do got to be on the details like you're the starter. He has a smile on his face. He loves to practice, he loves to prepare, he loves to play. … He's a good football player, and he's a great teammate, really good leader. If he's got to play, he's got to play."

Given Murray's importance to the Cardinals offense, for which he's not only its leading passer but also the leading rusher, his status is one to monitor the rest of the week.
