Carter, the top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine that he's "about 90 percent right now" in his return from a shoulder injury. Carter won't participate in drills while in Indianapolis but is planning to do most of his workouts at Penn State's pro day on March 28.

Williams told reporters Wednesday at the NFL combine that he played at 60% this past season while dealing with an ankle injury. The Georgia pass rusher added that he will work out at his pro day.

  • HC Kevin Stefanski told reporters Wednesday at the NFL combine that he expects Myles Garrett to play for Cleveland "this year, next year, the year after that and so on." Garrett requested a trade earlier this month. Browns GM Andrew Berry said Tuesday that the team's stance on not trading Garrett has not changed. "[Garrett's] a part of the present," Stefanski said Wednesday. "He's a part of the future."
  • Stefanski added that the Browns have spoken with QB prospects Jalen Milroe, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward this week. Cleveland owns the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and is a top landing spot for a QB.

  • The Packers have had trade talks regarding CB Jaire Alexander and are open to moving the veteran for the right price, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

  • QB Matthew Stafford ran into Raiders minority owner Tom Brady at a ski resort in Montana but the unplanned meeting was not extensive or in-depth and did not include Brady hosting or recruiting Stafford despite reports, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Stafford was granted permission to talk to other teams by the Rams earlier this month.

  • DT Davon Godchaux has been given permission to seek a trade, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Godchaux is likely on the move given the team's change in defensive scheme, according to Rapoport, and there has already been contact with interested teams.

SIGNINGS

  • QB Brock Purdy and the 49ers have begun contract negotiations, general manager John Lynch told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine. “We want Brock to be our quarterback as long as we’re here," Lynch said. Purdy is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025.

  • WR Deebo Samuel's recent trade request will be honored by the Niners, Lynch told reporters Wednesday.

FREE AGENCY NEWS

  • S Jordan Whitehead has been informed by the Buccaneers that the team will not exercise his option bonus, setting up the veteran defender to hit free agency when the new league year begins on March 12, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported. Whitehead, who dealt with injuries in 2024, is expected to be fully healthy for the 2025 season, per Garafolo. Buccaneers GM Jason Licht told reporters Tuesday that the door is open for Whitehead's return despite declining his option.

  • LB Harold Landry has been granted permission to seek a trade, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. Landry has two years left on his deal and is owed $17.5 million in 2025 but has zero guaranteed money remaining. Landry, 28, has earned one Pro Bowl nod over seven NFL seasons since being drafted in the second round by Tennessee in 2018.
