Much of the attention Sunday night when Green Bay visits Dallas will be on Micah Parsons chasing around Dak Prescott, but the Cowboys quarterback knows it's much bigger than that.
"It's not Dak vs. Micah. Those are never the headlines and never can be," Prescott said Thursday, via ESPN. "This is Dallas Cowboys vs. the Green Bay Packers, and we've got to go get a win."
Earlier this week, Parsons said it would be “painful” to sack Prescott after playing four seasons together.
"I hope it's not [painful] for me," Prescott quipped Thursday. "And I hope he doesn't get to me, for one."
Prescott is right to deflect, but how he performs against the Parsons-led defense will tell the tale of how the night will go for Dallas. With a defense that has struggled to generate stops this season, the Cowboys offense is under pressure to keep pace all game.
Parsons' return to Dallas has been the key storyline heading into the weekend.
"It'll definitely be fun," Prescott said. "Yeah, it's one me and my fiancée were just talking about the other day and just all the reps of practice, going against Micah in times when he couldn't hit me, whether him getting back there, just the trash talk back and forth, me telling him he wouldn't tackle me anyways, he still can't bring me down. You got to get to that point.
"Just getting to go out there and compete with a guy that's a good friend, that I've competed with in numbers of ways throughout this building, outside of this building. Yeah, just excited to go and have that matchup. But he's got five guys up front, plus tight ends and running backs that he's got to get through. Then we'll worry about if he can get to me."
With CeeDee Lamb on the shelf, Prescott's job becomes that much harder. The QB has been throwing his arm off to open the campaign. He leads the NFL with 90 completions and is tied with Joe Flacco for most attempts with 126. Prescott has a 71.4 completion percentage and 800 passing yards in 2025, both top-five in the NFL.
The question heading into Sunday night is whether he can keep hitting passes with Parsons on his scent.
