Detroit Lions release Jerome Murphy, sign Ricardo Silva

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have released cornerback Jerome Murphy and signed safety Ricardo Silva from the practice squad.

The team announced the moves Saturday night. Detroit hosts the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Murphy played two games for New Orleans this season and was cut earlier this month. The Lions picked him up, and he played in one game for them.

Silva played in four games last season for Detroit.
