Ethan Westbrooks arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Ethan Westbrooks was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in Sacramento, California, on Sunday night, police told NFL.com.

Westbrooks, 26, was arrested after Sacramento Police Dept. officers responded to a child custody dispute, according to a police department news release. Upon arrival, officers reported seeing a woman with injuries to her upper body and determined Westbrooks caused the injuries. Westbrooks had left the scene, but officers went to another Sacramento residence, where he was taken into custody a short time later.

He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and released on Monday, according to jail records.

"We are aware of the serious allegations involving Ethan Westbrooks," the Rams said in a statement. "We are in contact with authorities and are gathering more information. Per team policy, we will continue to respect the legal process and have no further comment at this time."

Westbrooks faces the possibility of discipline from the NFL under the league's personal conduct policy.

Westbrooks, who recorded 24 tackles and two sacks last season, is a restricted free agent heading into 2017.
