Free-agent QB Aaron Rodgers provides hint for landing spot in 2025

Aaron Rodgers certainly isn't reluctant to fan the flames as the NFL heads to its slower portion of the offseason.

Still unsigned and undecided toward the end of May, the four-time Most Valuable Player recently partook in a fan question-and-answer session on stage at an event hosted by rapper Mike Stud.

When asked if he would ever join the Chicago Bears, bitter rivals of Rodgers' longtime Green Bay Packers, he provided a cryptic response.

"No, but I believe there's a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip," Rodgers said. "I don't know, not sure. Got to check it out. I love Chicago, though. Way more than they love me. It's been a great relationship. All one way."

The Pittsburgh Steelers notably travel to play the Bears in Week 12 on Nov. 23.

Of course, seven other teams will make a trip to Soldier Field this season, including former potential landing spots like the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, both of whom seem to have cemented their plans under center.

The end of his statement is certainly trolling -- as he is wont to do when it comes to the Bears -- but while it's not out of the question Rodgers is doing the same by vaguely alluding to a squad scheduled to play in Chicago, it's still fodder for those on offseason Rodgers watch.

And for what it's worth, he shut down playing for the Saints when another fan asked, replying with a quick "no."

This marks the latest breadcrumb potentially leading to Pittsburgh as the QB ruminates on a potential 21st season.

The clearest indication Rodgers might end up wearing black and gold took place on April 1, when president Art Rooney II said at the Annual League Meeting that "all signs are positive" he's heading the Steelers' way. Head coach Mike Tomlin has stated there's no deadline, and pass rusher Alex Highsmith said on Thursday's The Insiders that waiting on the 41-year-old's decision isn't a "distraction at all."

Time ticks on.

Rodgers hinting at a union won't get the Steelers any closer to a championship -- only him officially signing would do that.
