- HC Dave Canales told reporters he is still evaluating who will be the team's starting quarterback for their Week 9 game against the Saints. Second-year player Bryce Young started Sunday's loss to the Broncos after Andy Dalton suffered a sprained thumb during a car crash last week.

- LT Braxton Jones, who suffered a knee injury in Sunday's loss to Washington, might miss a week or two but it isn't considered a major injury, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
- DE Montez Sweat wasn't on the field for the final Hail Mary play because of a shin injury, head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters Monday.

- WR Stefon Diggs (knee) has no update on the severity of his injury and is still being evaluated, head coach DeMeco Ryans told reporters Monday.

- HC Shane Steichen told reporters the team is "evaluating everything" when asked if second-year QB Anthony Richardson will start in their Week 9 game against the Vikings.

- WR Christian Kirk had surgery on his broken collarbone Monday and will miss the remainder of the season, head coach Doug Pederson announced.
- WR Brian Thomas Jr.'s MRI did not show anything more severe and he's considered day to day with a contusion to the left side of his chest, per Pederson. There is a chance Thomas can play in Week 9, Pederson added.

- S Jevon Holland (knee) is not execpted to miss significant time or undergo surgery, head coach Mike McDaniel said. Holland could potentially be availabe for their Week 9 game against the Bills and will be evaluated throughout the week.

- QB Derek Carr (oblique) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday, head coach Dennis Allen told reporters. Carr has missed the past three games, but Allen said the team is optimistic Carr will be available for their Week 9 game against the Panthers.

- QB Justin Fields (hamstring; questionable) will test his injury upon arrival for Monday night's game versus the Giants to determine his role, but he hasn't suffered a major injury and hasn't missed any practice time, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources. Rapoport adds that if there are any issues, the Steelers will be cautious with the team's bye week approaching.
